At the Institute of Education Studies, scientifically and socially highly relevant questions from early childhood, school, and vocational or employment-related fields are addressed through interdisciplinary and internationally connected projects.
Teaching
With us, you study in the front row: In our courses within the educational science Bachelor's or Master's programs at the Institute, as well as in the teacher training programs for secondary school at the Heidelberg School of Education
Research
The research focus of the Institute of Education Studies is on education and counseling across the lifespan. Questions are examined within different age cohorts and at various levels of access (individual, institutional, systemic) using methods of empirical educational research.
Institute library
The library at the Institute of Education Studies offers a wide range of literature in social sciences, psychology, and education. The library collaborates with the Library for Educational Historical Research in Berlin to keep the local collection up-to-date and to ensure nationwide availability of educational science literature
Transfer
Heidelberg University aims to establish knowledge and technology transfer as a third strong pillar alongside research and teaching in its performance portfolio. To enable greater societal access to scientifically generated knowledge and to successfully translate research results into practical applications, the Institute of Education Studies is also committed to creating such connections
